Sobel & Co. has developed significant experience auditing employee benefit plans throughout the New York and New Jersey business community. We work hard to understand the specialized aspects of these areas of practice and we will tailor our services to suit each client’s culture and unique requirements.
Quality financial reporting and auditing is critical to our clients. We recognize the need for a positive perception by audit committees, employees, regulators and other users of audit results and financial statements that contain a Sobel & Co. report.
Putting quality first.
We were among the first firms to register with the AICPA’s Center for Public Company Audit Firms, its Employee Benefit and Government Audit Quality Centers and the Public Companies Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB). As a member of these voluntary groups, we demonstrate our commitment to maintaining the highest quality assurance standards in performing audit and accounting services.
Building clients’ confidence.
As a result of our membership in the AICPA’s Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center, you can have confidence in the reliability and quality of our work. We adhere to the strict membership requirements of the Center, which include mandatory continuing education and internal inspection. Membership also gives us access to the Center’s vast resources. Our membership in the EBPAQCA can give you a greater comfort level regarding the excellence of our work. This should matter to you because a quality audit helps plan sponsors and administrators maintain their commitment to protecting the assets and the financial integrity of the employee benefit plan, ensuring that the necessary funds will be available to pay retirement, health and other promised benefits to employees and fulfilling their fiduciary responsibilities.
The Voluntary Fiduciary Correction Program (VFCP) is a program that encourages the self- correction of possible violations of Title I of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) through voluntary compliance. ERISA is the federal law that covers most employee benefit plans in the private sector. The U.S. Department of Labor, Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA), enforces many parts of ERISA.
