Barbara Semple, member of the Firm, joined Sobel & Co. in December 2006. Previously she had been with the public accounting firm Shachat & Simson in Clark, New Jersey where she started her career in 1985.  Barbara has provided auditing and accounting and tax services to small and medium size closely-held businesses for more than 20 years, with a specialization in the Privately Held Family Owned Business, spanning multiple industries. 

Barbara is a graduate of Douglass College, Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. She is a member of the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

As a result of her strong focus on closely-held family-owned businesses, Barbara has been named the Director of the Firm's Privately-Held/Family-Owned Business Group, with responsibility for ensuring consistent, world-class service to clients in this segment.  Families have predictable but unique issues when they are in business together, and Barbara applies her insights and real-world experiences to help Sobel & Co. continue to serve the owners and senior managers who represent the core of the firm's client base.

Barbara is involved in many different volunteer activities and is a member of St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church. Her hobbies include golf and choir.

Ms. Semple resides in Union, New Jersey with her husband and two children.
