Michael LaForge joined Sobel & Co. in 1980 and has been a Member of the Firm since 1987. As the Member in Charge of Audit and Accounting at Sobel & Co., Mike applies his thirty years of professional accounting experience across a wide range of industries. He serves clients in the non-profit sector and private school districts as well as manufacturing, construction, wholesale, professional services and food service industries. Mike is also the member in Charge of the Firm’s Employee Benefit Plan Practice Group, providing clients with the added value of his experience performing audits across a range of benefit plans. He offers expertise in the areas of strategic and tax planning for closely held businesses, personal financial planning, and financial reporting. 

He is a Certified Public Accountant in New Jersey and New York and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants. Mike has served on the Quality Control and Financial Institution Committees at the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants and was appointed to serve on the Quality Review Executive Committee. He is a member of the AICPA Division for Management Advisory Services, is certified under the AICPA’s practice monitoring system to review other accounting firms and has been appointed as the Vice-Chair of the PKF North American Network's Manufacturing and Distribution Committee.

Mike is on the Board of several non-profit organizations including the board of his local YMCA and serves on several finance committees of religious organizations.

Mike is a graduate of Seton Hall University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree.

Mike and his family reside in Scotch Plains, New Jersey.
