Alan D. Sobel, the Managing Member of Sobel & Co., is responsible for facilitating the strategic direction and the day-to-day management of the firm. In addition to his firm responsibilities, Mr. Sobel provides expertise for clients in the areas of financial reporting, tax planning for businesses and high net worth individuals, and strategic business planning for corporate clients.  Alan has considerable experience with mergers and acquisitions and delivers added value working with clients on sourcing deals, negotiating and structuring transactions, financial and business due diligence and transaction financing.  He has strong expertise in working with privately held entities in the manufacturing, construction, distribution, real estate development and financial services industries as well as closely held companies and SEC registrants.

Alan Sobel is a Certified Public Accountant in both New Jersey and New York.  He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants as well as the New Jersey (NJCPA) and New York State Societies of Certified Public Accountants.  Alan is a past Chairman of the NJCPA Audit Committee, former Vice President and trustee of the NJCPA and a past President of its Essex Chapter and has served on various NJCPA committees.  Alan has been appointed as the Chair of the PKF North America Network Firm Management Committee for 2009. Alan is a former Adjunct Professor of Taxation at Fairleigh Dickinson University and has frequently lectured on the topics of mergers and acquisitions, financial reporting, and business planning

In addition, Alan served as the President of the Board of Directors for The Children’s Institute, a non-profit school for emotionally challenged and autistic children for seven years and has been on the board from 1991 through 2007.  He is also a former board member and has been actively involved with other philanthropic endeavors, including Gilda’s Club Northern New Jersey, The CPA 5K for the Benefit of Children’s Charities, Jewish Community Housing of Metro-west, and the UJA of Metro-west.

Alan received a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Bentley College.  He earned his Masters of Science in Taxation from Fairleigh Dickinson University where he was elected to the National Honor Society for Business Administration.

Alan and his family reside in Rockaway, New Jersey.
